French Press Coffee Maker

Mmmmmm…ahhhh… there is nothing better than a fresh, rich cup of coffee to get you up in the morning and help start your day off on the right foot. The best way to insure that you are getting the freshest and richest cup is by preparing it with a French press coffee maker. Even a common brand of coffee will taste smoother and richer.

French Press Coffee Maker- Where To Buy?

You can visit a nice kitchen supply store if you have one in your area and they should have a French press coffee maker in stock. They may even be willing to brew you a sample cup and demonstrate how it works. Of course, there is always the convenience of shopping on the internet for the various brands available and the prices.

Which One to Buy

The French press coffee maker is most commonly made of glass. There are unbreakable plastic pots available. The plastic style is highly recommended if you have children. The glass French press coffee pot can be easily broken. I have broken a few by leaving them in the sink and then a heavy kitchen utensil is tossed in. Trust me this will result in a broken vessel.

How to Prepare a Fine Cup of Joe

When brewing a nice cup of java, I prefer a French roast bean. A robust French roast will guarantee a cup of full bodied coffee. I also like to purchase the whole bean and grind it myself to further insure the freshness. It is best to grind it on a coarse grind for pressing in the French press coffee maker. I believe this allows less grounds to appear in your coffee. The technique is really quite simple. Boiling water is needed. 197.6-204 degrees is the optimum temperature to brew the coffee. Add the desired number of scoops of coffee for the size of your French press coffee pot into the pot. I use four heaping tablespoons for my 32 ounce pot. (My husband and I like it fairly strong.) Fill the pot to within a ¼ inch of the top. Lightly stir the coffee with a plastic or wooden spoon. Place the lid on, put do not press down the plunger. Set the timer for four minutes, press down the plunger slowly until it reaches the bottom and voila! You have a beautiful cup of “Joe.” Our 32 ounce French press coffee pot provides three generous mugs of delicious coffee.

There is no reason to wake up to a wimpy cup of coffee. Pick up a French press coffee maker and start your day with a smooth and rich cup of coffee.
